Solstice Series Tenor Ukulele by Luis Pilarte

Crafted for the discerning player, this instrument offers a voice that is both intimate and expansive, equally at home in quiet reflection or on stage.

This tenor ukulele delivers a rich and responsive tonal profile, with the warmth and depth of cocobolo balanced by clear, articulate highs. Its strong projection and dynamic range make it equally suited for solo playing or performance settings.

Rooted in the natural beauty of Nicaragua, Luis Pilarte draws deeply from the landscapes and materials surrounding his workshop. Nicaragua is home to some of the world’s most striking tonewoods, including the revered cocobolo. This particular instrument features an especially curly variation, with vivid figuring that shifts in the light, revealing layers of movement and depth within the grain.

Tonally, cocobolo brings a complex voice, dark yet warm, with depth, clarity, and lingering sustain. Each set is carefully selected and individually voiced, allowing every instrument to reflect the unique character of the wood itself. No two are alike.

Both the top and back are beautifully bookmatched, emphasizing the natural symmetry of the wood. A full cutaway provides effortless access to the upper frets while preserving the instrument’s full tonal body. The hand inlaid rosette and detailed striping along the edges, as well as through the center of the back and neck, showcase the precision and care present in every stage of the build. Abalone fret markers add a subtle shimmer across the fretboard, offering both visual elegance and clear orientation for the player.

A distinctive paw print side sound port offers both visual charm and functional design, allowing the player to more clearly hear their own playing in louder environments or on stage. The classical guitar style headstock adds a refined, traditional touch that complements the instrument’s overall aesthetic.

Playability is central to every Pilarte instrument. A radiused fretboard, gently curved to match the natural shape of the hand, makes even challenging barre chords feel smooth and intuitive, inviting longer and more expressive playing sessions.
