Meet Luis Pilarte!
Tucked away in a beautiful town in Nicaragua, Luis crafts instruments inspired by the local flora and landscape. This influence can be seen in his wood choices, which often include gorgeous cocobolo, striking tigerwood, cedar, and marbled Nicaraguan maple.

Luis loves to highlight the sol (sun in Spanish) in his rosettes, incorporate wave motifs into some of his headstock designs, and even carve animal paw details inspired by his own husky.

A second-generation luthier, Luis learned the craft from his father. Each ukulele that passes through his workshop is built individually by hand in their family-run operation. Because every piece of wood is unique, each ukulele is designed individually to best showcase its natural beauty.
