Rooted in the natural beauty of Nicaragua, Luis Pilarte draws deeply from the landscapes and materials surrounding his workshop. Nicaragua is home to some of the world’s most striking tonewoods, including the revered cocobolo. As a full cocobolo instrument, this ukulele carries a complex and immersive voice, dark yet warm, with exceptional depth, clarity, and lingering sustain. Each set is carefully selected and individually voiced, allowing every instrument to reflect the unique character of the wood itself. No two are alike.

The top, back, and sides are crafted from solid cocobolo, with the back beautifully bookmatched and accented by inlaid striping that highlights the natural symmetry of the wood. Abalone accents add a refined shimmer, complementing the rich tones of the cocobolo without overpowering its natural beauty.

At the center of this instrument is its defining feature, a hand cut heart shaped sound hole. Both visually striking and symbolically resonant, it offers a subtle expression of warmth and connection, reinforcing the deeply personal nature of the instrument while maintaining its full tonal integrity.
